Barack Obama humorously claims he occupies 'a room' in Donald Trump's mind

Obama Comments on Trump’s Mental Focus

Former President Barack Obama made light of President Donald Trump’s state of mind during a podcast appearance on Wednesday, suggesting that Trump is “unfocused” and may have a fixation on him. Obama humorously remarked that Trump has a “suite” in his head dedicated to him.

In this particular podcast, which features former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Obama discussed how the Trump administration seems to have a continued fascination with him, reflecting on the “negativity and racism” directed towards him.

“You should probably ask him about that obsession,” Obama stated about Trump. “It seems like he has a room in his head dedicated to me.” Barnes chimed in, calling it “free rent” and complimented Obama on how he handles the situation with grace.

Furthermore, Obama shared his perspective on how, when he was in office, he never focused on his predecessor’s actions or criticisms. “When you’re president, you have a lot on your plate. Worrying about what someone before you did? That seems odd to me. It indicates a lack of focus on the American people and the job at hand,” he elaborated.

Later in the discussion, Obama touched on the apparent discrepancy between Trump’s public persona and private demeanor during their interactions. “In conversations, he doesn’t speak that way because he knows better,” he remarked, indicating that Trump’s public statements may not align with how he communicates privately.

In a broader context, White House Press Secretary Davis Engle criticized Obama, labeling him as “one of the most dishonest, divisive and destructive presidents in history.” This ongoing back-and-forth reflects the tense atmosphere that still lingers from their respective administrations.

Although Obama admitted that he sometimes thinks about countering Trump, he prefers to refrain from direct engagement, maintaining that he shouldn’t function as a commentator when he has a role as a political leader.

“If I act like a commentator, then I’m not fulfilling my duty as a leader,” he concluded.
