Danny Pintauro, known for his role in “Who’s the Boss?”, juggles five jobs to make ends meet. Surprisingly, he doesn’t earn anything from the famous sitcom that launched his career.
The former child actor, who portrayed Jonathan Bower during the show’s run from 1984 to 1992, opened up about his current financial situation. This comes after a viral moment featuring him delivering packages for Amazon.
“Amazon is among five different jobs I’m doing right now,” Pintauro, now 50, shared on the “Pod Meets World” podcast.
He described the plight of actors today, noting that many, like him, have to diversify their income streams because acting alone no longer suffices to pay the bills.
“As working people, we adapt to survive,” he explained to the podcast hosts, who are also alumni of the ’90s show “Boy Meets World.” “It’s a shared human experience. I’m not alone in this.”
Pintauro, who starred alongside Tony Danza and Judith Light on “Who’s the Boss?”, emphasized he doesn’t receive residuals from the series.
“I honestly don’t make any money from those,” he admitted, highlighting the stark reality many performers face.
He pointed out that public perception shifted when he detailed the struggles of many actors, stating, “Frack just disappeared.”
Despite facing ridicule for taking a summer job at Gap during his time on the show, Pintauro remarked on how society often revels in the misfortunes of others. “People seem to enjoy watching someone fall after being elevated,” he reflected.
Apart from his delivery work, Pintauro also teaches acting and sells dioramas, which he has been doing in Austin for almost a decade now.
“I enjoy being productive, and I’ve built an acting coaching career while working for Amazon,” he noted. “Many of us were raised with a strong work ethic and want to start our days with purpose.”
Recently, Pintauro appeared in the 2022 film “A Country Christmas Harmony” and has a role in the upcoming series “The Comeback Kids.”
