Brandon Aiyuk is making it pretty clear on social media that he’s interested in playing for the Washington Commanders once his time with the 49ers wraps up.

But, if you’re part of any NFL team—be it the Commanders, 49ers, or others—relying on his online activity as some sort of informal resume, you might be raising some eyebrows. It’s a bit of a concern: “Is this really the player we want to invest in?”

This situation raises a wider question: Does anyone in Aiyuk’s circle think to tell him that he might be shooting himself in the foot? Should he rethink his approach, or does he actually want assistance?

Would he accept it if offered?

Given the circumstances, it seems pretty crucial for Aiyuk to seek mental health support, especially after another Instagram video where he expressed interest in joining the Commanders.

His curious behaviors include skipping rehabilitation sessions that forfeited contract guarantees and cost him a lot of money, a well-publicized reckless driving episode that brought legal troubles, and a string of odd social media posts that understandably alarmed his followers.

Rather than releasing him outright, the 49ers seem to be putting some distance between themselves and Aiyuk. They might be holding out hope for a trade to at least recoup some of their losses, or perhaps out of consideration for what he’s actually dealing with.

As Aiyuk continues to upload videos on social media, the worry and frustration among fans and onlookers linger.
