Former Florida Teacher Arrested for Sexual Misconduct

A former special education teacher from Florida has been arrested on charges related to an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy, who is the brother of one of her former students.

Michelle Lynn Hancock, 41, from Palm Bay, faces multiple charges. These include transmitting harmful information to a minor, using a computer to solicit a child, luring a child and traveling to meet them, engaging in lewd touching, and sexual assault as a person in authority. Records from the Brevard County jail detail these accusations.

Hancock was taken into custody after police responded to reports of a suspicious truck parked on the side of the road. Inside, officers found her and the juvenile, both of whom reportedly confessed to engaging in sexual activity.

A spokesperson for Brevard Public Schools mentioned that Hancock is no longer employed by the district.

The school district released a statement expressing deep concern over the allegations and reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe and supportive atmosphere for students.

It appears that Hancock had met the boy when she taught his older brother. According to an affidavit, despite the boy dropping out and enrolling in virtual classes, he began visiting Hancock at school and they reportedly kissed in her classroom.

After some time apart, they resumed communication about a month ago, which led to a rekindling of their sexual relationship. Authorities added that Hancock sent inappropriate photos of herself as a teenager to the boy.

Currently, Hancock is in the Brevard County Jail, held on a $525,000 bail.
