Guy Fieri Joins Motorsports Ownership
It’s not uncommon for celebrities to dip their toes into motorsports ownership. Michael Jordan has stakes in NASCAR’s 23XI Racing, while David Letterman is part owner of the IndyCar team Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, among others. But now, there’s a new name in the mix: Guy Fieri, the ambassador of Flavortown.
On Thursday, it was revealed that Fieri has taken on the role of “strategic owner” for the Cup Series team, Legacy Motor Club.
Fieri expressed his passion for motorsports in a statement, saying, “Motorsports and race cars have always had a raw energy that I love: people, passion, culture and speed. Legacy Motor Club is trying to build something different and I wanted to be a part of that. This is about more than racing; it’s about creating a brand that connects with fans everywhere, from the track to the table.”
Legacy Motor Club aims to stand out, even claiming to provide the best catering in NASCAR. Although, I wonder if any other team would actually show up with a gigantic bottle of Donkey Sauce. Somehow, I doubt it…
Fieri, known for his roles as a restaurateur, entrepreneur, and award-winning television host, is also a car lover. If you’ve watched “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives,” you’ve surely seen him cruising in his classic 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible, visiting family-owned establishments around the country.
“Guy built a great brand by being authentic and truly connecting with people,” noted Jimmie Johnson, co-owner of Legacy Motor Club and a NASCAR legend. “That’s at the heart of what we’re building here. We want our legacy to reach far beyond race day, and Guy’s creativity, energy, and perspective fit perfectly with this ownership group.”
Fieri’s involvement will extend to collaborative content, fan engagement initiatives, and products that blend racing, food, and lifestyle culture.
As for on-track performance, Erik Jones, who drives the No. 43 car for Legacy Motor Club, has been doing quite well this season, currently standing 14th. On the other hand, his teammate John Hunter Nemechek, in the No. 42 car, finds himself in 27th place.
