A man, Robert Goldman, is facing serious charges after allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend, Veronica Lopez, a former professional skateboarder, along with her neighbor, Richard Brady. He was brought to court in a suicide-prevention gown, having had his bail revoked by a judge.
The incident took place in Pomona, where gunfire erupted near Monterey and Gary streets, prompting a police chase. Goldman, 48, is charged with two counts of murder and one count of fleeing from law enforcement.
Additionally, he faces special circumstances for multiple murders. His arraignment has been postponed to July 21.
Authorities say that Goldman shot both Lopez, 24, and Brady, 48, before fleeing, which led to a high-speed pursuit involving multiple police agencies.
Family members revealed that Lopez and Goldman had a history of domestic violence spanning around two years.
Tragically, loved ones learned of Lopez’s fate as they watched the chase unfold on live television. Her sister, Clarissa, recounted the heartbreaking moment, sharing how their mom recognized Lopez’s car during the live broadcast.
Lopez was remembered fondly by her family as a vibrant San Francisco 49ers fan whose life was taken too soon in the tragic events of June 18.
Goldman remains in custody, as the case continues to develop.
