Iyo Sky Wins Queen of the Ring at Night of Champions

Iyo Sky faced Liv Morgan in the finals of the Queen of the Ring at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia. This match offered a pathway for the winner to compete for a championship title at SummerSlam.

Morgan entered the match as the reigning women’s world champion. If she triumphs, she would secure her spot in the WWE Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam in August. Conversely, if Sky wins, she would have to choose between facing Morgan or Rhea Ripley.

Things took a twist for Morgan when Danhausen, a character known for his curses, spoke with her and placed a hex on the champion. In an interesting turn, Morgan and her associates attempted to bribe Danhausen to cast the curse on Sky, but he brushed aside her offers and chose to impose the spell on her instead. Morgan, however, quickly dismissed the voodoo attempt.

As the match unfolded, fans began to take the “curse” more seriously. Morgan did her best to keep Sky at bay, even retreating to a strategic position. Yet, Sky was undeterred, fighting fiercely back.

Sky executed an impressive Spanish fly followed by an over-the-moonsault that ultimately led to her victory.

Now crowned the Queen of the Ring, Sky wasted no time announcing her goal to chase the Women’s World Championship. “Liv, see you at SummerSlam,” she declared, setting the stage for their highly anticipated rematch.

This matchup is now confirmed as the opening event at SummerSlam, which will occur at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on August 1st and 2nd.

Sky already has a history of titles, having previously held both the WWE Women’s Championship and Women’s World Championship once. If she wins again in August, it will mark her third championship reign.
