Soccer fans visiting the United States for the first time during the 2026 FIFA World Cup are sharing their surprising experiences.
British content creator Oliver Henry gained attention after documenting his inaugural trip to the U.S. He made the journey to watch a match between England and Croatia in Dallas, part of the World Soccer Championships, after receiving a last-minute invitation.
Henry, in a video shared on X, remarked, “We owe America a huge apology. America is not what the media portrays. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and we had the best time.” This post caught the eye of President Donald Trump.

Trump shared Henry’s video, turning what was meant to be a simple trip to watch soccer into an unexpected opportunity to meet a prominent figure.
Henry expressed this sentiment to X, sharing a clip of his handshake with Trump and saying, “Now I understand the American Dream.” He noted that he had no clue what made America the ‘Land of Opportunity’ until he witnessed it for himself.
I understood the American dream.
I came to the World Cup because I was offered last-minute tickets to watch the England-Croatia game in Dallas, so I started documenting the trip.

“Such moments can only happen in America,” he remarked. He admitted he was surprised to learn just how much the country embodies the notion of opportunity.
Another fan, a German named Freddie, gained fame when his post detailing his first trip to America went viral.
Freddie shared his adventures at American chain stores like Buc-ee’s, Texas Roadhouse, and Waffle House, along with a tour of the International Space Station with NASA and LSU. Before leaving Texas, he posted, “Thank you, Texas. The hospitality here is exceptional,” in front of a Texas Roadhouse.

Nick Adams, the Special Presidential Envoy for America, Tourism, Exceptionalism, and Values, remarked that it’s essential to appreciate those who, despite not being American, genuinely love the country.
He noted, “These are individuals who feel a deep connection to Americans and their way of life.” He emphasized, “There’s no place like America; we are the loudest and most exciting destination on Earth.”
Freddie, a fan of American country music artist Ella Langley, met her during his visit. Adams extended invitations for Freddie to tour both the State Department and the White House.
