Message to Transgender Youth
Odyssey star Elliot Page, who was formerly known as Ellen Page, has emphasized that “there’s nothing wrong with you” while sharing comforting words aimed at “transgender youth” worldwide.
The Canadian actor expressed these sentiments while discussing the new documentary, second nature, which reportedly examines issues related to “gender fluidity” and sexuality within the animal kingdom.
Page has previously mentioned his hope that the film, which explores homosexual behavior in animals, could help queer kids feel less isolated.
In an interview, Page elaborated further, stating, “It’s been quite a journey to get to this position, and I want to send my love to anyone who is struggling right now,” according to outside.
“Sometimes, I have days when I feel low on courage and overwhelmed. During those times, I think of all the people who came before me, facing so much cruelty. Yet, they have continued to move forward, working hard to create a space where I can exist. That is truly inspirational. There is nothing wrong with you!”
The documentary features scientists who have dedicated their careers to studying over 1,500 species of animals that engage in same-sex sexual behaviors, parenting, and even changing sex, which adds an interesting dimension to the conversation.
Back in December 2020, Page publicly came out as transgender, stating, “I am transgender, my pronouns are he/they, and my name is Elliot,” about six years after identifying as a lesbian.
In the following May, Page, known for roles in movies like Juno and X-Men, posted a topless photo on Instagram, sharing that she had undergone surgery to remove her breasts.
second nature premiered at the South by Southwest (SXSW) and Reel Wild Film Festivals and opened in theaters in Los Angeles on May 24th, followed by New York on June 26th.
