Cause of Death Revealed for Actress Davey Chase
Reports have emerged detailing the cause of death for actress Davey Chase, who gained fame for her roles in Lilo & Stitch and Donnie Darko. A medical report released on Monday indicated that she passed away on June 17th due to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Initially, her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, told TMZ that her death was a result of meningitis and several severe blood infections. However, it was later revealed that Hernandez had set up a GoFundMe campaign for Chase, which her father and former manager claimed was fraudulent.
Hernandez provided updates about her health on the GoFundMe, stating that her condition was critical and that doctors had warned of limited time. John Chase, her father, publicly criticized the campaign, ensuring that it wouldn’t cover any expenses related to his daughter. He expressed his concerns over Hernandez’s actions, noting that he had rushed Chase to the hospital in poor condition without notifying her family until it was too late.
Chase’s mother disclosed that her daughter and boyfriend had been homeless on Skid Row at the time of her death, just 35 years old. In an interview, her mother, Kathy, reflected on how her daughter became addicted to drugs following a motorcycle accident in 2016, during which Chase was prescribed oxycodone and other painkillers. This prescription spiraled into severe drug abuse, drastically altering her life.
Kathy shared that her daughter started seeking drugs and associating with harmful crowds. She mentioned, “I never kicked my daughter out. She wanted freedom, and those influences led to her addiction.” Yet, her mother had not seen Chase since October 2019, following a period of legal issues.
“Honestly, I thought something was seriously wrong with her,” Kathy recalled, describing her daughter as seeming unstable due to her drug use. When Kathy was released from confinement and tried to reconnect, she found that Chase had already disappeared back into the streets. Regrettably, she had felt a sense of betrayal for not being there at the right moment.
Upon learning of her daughter’s passing, Kathy struggled to accept the news until she was able to view the body. The loss left her heartbroken, recounting the moment as feeling like something inside her was suffocating, yet at the same time, she felt an overwhelming urge to burst with emotion.
