Justice Department reveals murder and kidnapping charges against suspected TdA members

Charges Filed Against Venezuelan Gang Members

The Justice Department recently announced that eight illegal immigrants, suspected to be part of the Venezuelan gang Torren de Aragua, are facing murder and kidnapping charges.

These charges stem from two separate incidents. In one case, four individuals are accused of killing a father in front of his teenage daughter in a Dallas suburb, according to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. In another incident, three men allegedly kidnapped, beat, and shot a man in Chicago.

Blanche noted that all eight defendants unlawfully crossed the U.S.-Mexico border between December 2021 and April 2024.

Comments from Officials

“None of these men should have been in this country. The father in Texas should still be alive. His daughter and nephew should never have been kidnapped,” Blanche stated, attributing responsibility to the Biden administration’s “open borders” policy.

Ryan Raybould, the U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas, discussed the tragic events involving the Texas family. He highlighted that on August 24, 2024, the four suspects kidnapped a man, his 13-year-old daughter, and 12-year-old nephew in the middle of the night, demanding ransom from the father.

When the father realized he couldn’t pay the ransom, one of the suspects instructed him to jump from a bridge. Upon his refusal and attempt to escape, the man was shot execution-style in front of his children, Raybould recounted.

In connection with other crimes, a Texas grand jury indicted the four men, along with another suspect involved.

Chicago Incident

In a separate case, three members of the gang were charged with the murder of a man in Chicago. According to Andrew Boutros, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, the victim was seized while walking in a park and taken against his will.

They later bound him and transported him to an abandoned building, where he was shot multiple times. In a chilling detail, Boutros mentioned that someone even contacted the victim’s mother to disclose the location of her son’s body.

Criminal Operations of Torren de Aragua

FBI Director Kash Patel noted during the press conference that under President Trump’s administration, federal law enforcement has significantly bolstered efforts to apprehend violent gang members, with a reported 29,000 arrests since Trump took office. Patel particularly emphasized a staggering 519% increase in arrests related to the Torren de Aragua gang.

The gang, which originated around 2014 in a Venezuelan prison, has developed into a transnational criminal organization linked to various crimes, including sex trafficking and murder. The State Department officially designated it a foreign terrorist organization in February 2025.
