New App for July 4th Flyover Tracking
Just hours before the U.S. military planes take to the skies over Washington, D.C., a new app has been launched. This app will enable Americans to track the grand Fourth of July celebrations in real-time.
The “4th of July Flyover” app, developed by Sean Chittle, a White House official, serves as a guide for those watching the festivities at the National Mall and near the Washington Monument.
To help spectators keep track of the fast-paced aerial displays, the app includes an adjustable countdown timer aligned with the official schedule.
In the event of delays or early flights, users can manually tweak the timer, and the app will automatically indicate which aircraft will be flying next. Additionally, it offers access to photos, history, and interesting facts about the iconic planes soaring above.
This tool is essential for following the “Freedom 250” schedule, which spans more than nine hours of demonstrations.
The aviation showcase kicks off at 1:14 p.m. with a NASA F-5 flyover, followed by ship reviews from various branches of the military, including the Coast Guard, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy.
As afternoon approaches, crowd favorites are set to perform, with a Navy Blue Angels show at 4:59 p.m. and an Air Force Thunderbirds display at 6:25 p.m.
Later, Air Force One will take to the skies just after 7 p.m., leading a significant flyover at 7:17 p.m. The evening will feature a U.S. Stealth Air Force flyover at 7:38 p.m., an F-22 Raptor afterburning display at 7:53 p.m., and a B-1 bomber in afterburn at 8:07 p.m.
For those planning to be out later, the B-1 Afterburner Night Pass will brighten the night sky at 10:36 p.m.
Observers can easily bookmark the app or add it to their mobile home screens to stay updated on any patriotic event. It seems like a handy little tool for making the most of the day’s celebrations.
