NYC Bar Claims Revenue Loss Due to Taylor Swift’s Wedding Preparations
A bar in New York City is expressing frustration towards Taylor Swift and her partner Travis Kelce, asserting they’ve lost thousands in revenue due to street closures for their wedding. O’Brien’s Bar & Grill, located on 31st Street near Madison Square Garden, has faced a sharp decline in business since city officials closed off the street for wedding rehearsals.
The bar owner is now seeking compensation for the lost business, citing that the barricades prevent customers from accessing the venue. O’Brien noted that, typically, the bar can accommodate around 150 patrons on a Thursday night, but this week only six people came through the door.
“You have wronged us; please make it right,” O’Brien stated, hoping for a response from those involved.
He has reportedly spent considerable time trying to reach out to the city, the Gardens, and Swift, proposing solutions to mitigate lost revenue. However, these efforts have gone unanswered. O’Brien mentioned, “We’ve contacted the city, the mayor’s office, NYPD, Travis’s PR team, and Taylor’s management, which I believe is family-run. There’s been no response.”
Despite claims from the NYPD that access to the bar hasn’t been blocked, O’Brien argues that the barricades are obstructing more than just the sidewalk, forcing potential customers to turn back. “If you look outside, you can see the fences blocking the sidewalk completely,” he noted.
The owner had anticipated increased foot traffic due to ongoing events like the World Cup, saying, “We expected a busy day with tourists and local events.” O’Brien described the World Cup as a significant opportunity for his bar, particularly within the lively atmosphere of the city.
Taylor Swift remains one of the wealthiest entertainers globally, with her net worth estimated at $2.1 billion.
