Lionel Richie Thanks Fans After Health Scare

Lionel Richie has expressed gratitude to his supporters following a recent health issue that led him to cancel several performances. The 77-year-old singer shared his appreciation through a cheerful Instagram post over the weekend, showcasing moments from his concerts.

“Thank you for all the messages, all the kind words, and all the love,” he said. “I’m doing well, and I appreciate everyone.” His upbeat attitude was evident, especially after the concerts in Pittsburgh and Detroit, where he felt the excitement and energy from the crowd. “We made real memories together,” he added, looking forward to the next show in Toronto.

However, things took a turn recently. During the tour opener in Minnesota, Richie experienced dizziness, prompting him to postpone another concert. The United Center announced the cancellation of his scheduled performances in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio, based on medical advice.

“Following medical advice to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed two upcoming performances,” a statement read. He felt “heartbroken” about these changes but is eager to return to the stage.

A spokesperson from the St. Paul Fire Department confirmed that an individual was taken to a local hospital following an incident during a show last month, although further details on Richie’s health concerns remain unclear.

During a recent concert, fans observed a change in Richie after he sat down during “Dancing on the Ceiling,” citing feeling lightheaded. He humorously advised, “If you feel dizzy, sit down,” while attempting to keep the atmosphere light.

A clip shared by a fan showed Richie transitioning to the piano to perform “Three Times a Lady,” but shortly after, he stepped off stage, leaving the audience waiting for updates on the concert’s status.

As of now, he appears to be on the mend and is ready to perform again soon.
