Tragic Incident in McDonald’s Parking Lot
An 11-year-old girl and her father were shot during a violent outburst in a McDonald’s parking lot. Doctors have stated that a bullet remains lodged in the girl’s head and cannot be removed.
Dora Belen Rivera and her father, Oscar Roman Milon, were simply waiting to place an order from their SUV outside the Hallandale Beach McDonald’s on June 27 when chaos erupted. This report comes from local law enforcement and various news sources.
Ralph N. Kosi Blue, 18, was getting ready for his shift at the restaurant when he allegedly opened fire at an individual approaching him. Unfortunately, he struck both the girl in the head and her father in the lower back.
According to distressing footage shared with the media, two men can be seen frantically moving around the family’s vehicle, ducking for cover as shots were fired, with screams resonating from inside the car.
A GoFundMe established for the family emphasized, “Oscar and his family were innocent victims caught in an act of gun violence while parked at a McDonald’s.” It’s clear they had nothing to do with the altercation.
Remarkably, two other children, ages 2 and 5, were also present in the car but thankfully escaped unharmed.
Both victims were quickly transported to a nearby hospital. Rivera underwent surgery and is reportedly in stable condition, although the bullet remains lodged in her head. Medical professionals have advised against surgical removal for now, as it might cause further damage. The father has been discharged and is recovering at home.
“She is receiving specialized treatment and will face a lengthy recovery process,” noted the fundraiser, which has already raised over $12,000. A heart-wrenching photo attached to the campaign shows the girl in a hospital gown with family and first responders by her side.
The suspect, who fled after the shooting, was captured two days later during a manhunt and charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault.
Currently, Blue remains in custody without bail at Broward County Jail and has lost his job at McDonald’s.
Brad Ashlin, the owner and operator of the McDonald’s, expressed deep sorrow over the event, stating, “We are devastated by the shooting outside our restaurant.” He extended thoughts and prayers to the injured father, daughter, and their family, assuring that those involved are no longer part of the organization.
He added that McDonald’s is cooperating with the Hallandale Beach Police, providing surveillance footage and any needed assistance throughout the investigation.
