Former CNN Anchor Discusses Trump’s Health and Plans for Washington

On Sunday, Jim Acosta, a former CNN anchor, made some striking comparisons regarding President Donald Trump’s initiatives in Washington, D.C. During a podcast with left-wing host Jack Cocchiarella, Acosta suggested that Trump’s ongoing projects resemble “the last days of Saddam Hussein.” This was an interesting remark, especially given the context of the recent Fourth of July festivities on the National Mall.

Acosta’s comments were in response to questions about what should happen to Trump’s “monuments and vanity projects” once he leaves office. He expressed concern, stating, “This is like the doomsday days of Saddam Hussein that we’re seeing right now with him building things and trying to take over projects in Washington, D.C.”

Furthermore, Acosta emphasized that he is more worried about Trump’s mental well-being than his physical health. “I think more about his mental health than his physical health,” he mentioned during the discussion.

This conversation occurred following President Trump’s America 250 celebration, which the White House described as a commemoration of 250 years of American independence. Acosta critiqued Trump’s architectural ventures, suggesting they reflect the president’s desire to redefine his legacy. “He’s doing this because he knows deep down that he probably ranks last among presidents in American history,” Acosta noted.

He insisted that these projects ought to be abandoned once Trump departs from the presidency. “We need to put everything back to the way it was before he started doing this,” Acosta remarked.

Cocchiarella also prompted Acosta to discuss Trump’s public persona, especially as it relates to men’s health and what appears to be a decline in Trump’s vigor. “I think he’s obviously different from the person I covered in the first term,” Acosta recalled.

In an anecdote about Trump’s past, Acosta referenced a moment, saying, “I don’t remember him ever falling asleep in a Cabinet meeting or in the Oval Office with people talking over his shoulder. I mean, that’s just insane.”

In response, White House Press Secretary Davis Engle countered Acosta’s views in a statement, suggesting that the media is failing to cover what he described as a denial of Joe Biden’s perceived mental and physical decline while praising Trump’s abilities. “President Trump’s sharpness, unparalleled energy, and historic accessibility stand in stark contrast to what we saw during the previous administration,” Engle asserted.

Acosta further claimed that the mainstream media needs to take Trump’s health more seriously. “The fact that it’s not talked about much in the mainstream press is embarrassing,” he stated, emphasizing the need for journalists to be bolder in reporting on observable issues. He pointed out various physical signs, mentioning “bruising and ankles” as causes for concern.

He also drew a parallel between the scrutiny Trump faces and that which Biden encountered before deciding not to seek re-election in 2024. “Joe Biden’s entire political career ended with that one statement,” Acosta elaborated. “And Donald Trump does it too. It’s like a regular thing in the White House.” He concluded with a pointed inquiry about who regularly accompanies Trump in making significant decisions, particularly those concerning national security.
