Incredibly Let's ring in the new year!
A lucky Powerball ticket holder in Michigan won an estimated $842 million jackpot Monday night, according to the lottery's website.
The winning numbers were 12, 21, 42, 44, 49 1 red powerball.
The drawing marks the first Powerball jackpot won in 2024 and the first since October 11, when a California ticket holder won the second-largest prize in the game's history.
The ticket holder won the $1.76 billion prize at Midway Market & Liquors, a convenience store in Frazier Park, California, 120 miles north of Los Angeles.
The identity of the winner remains anonymous, but store staff said he appeared to be a local resident who visits the store “religiously” to win the lottery.
The odds of winning the Powerball grand prize are an astronomical 1 in 292,201,338.
California is a hotbed for big lottery winners.
The top four awards were won or shared by Golden State Powerball players, highlighted by Edwin Castro's record-breaking win in 2022.
Mr. Castro lived a life of luxury after winning a $2.07 billion prize, which he later settled for a lump sum of $997.6 million.
He has been focused on building a real estate portfolio, purchasing three mansions and luxury vacations in California worth a total of $76 million.
After winning, the 31-year-old from Los Angeles “disappeared” from social media and took a multi-week vacation to Fiji with some friends.
