A woman was killed when a deer crashed through the windshield of a car she was driving on a Mississippi highway early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The fatal crash happened around 5:20 a.m. on Route 61 in Claiborne Parish near the Louisiana border, Mississippi Highway Patrol Officer 1st Class Danica Mayfield told WAPT-TV.

Mayfield said the deer was hit by two vehicles on the highway. She said the deer crashed through the windshield of a Nissan Maxima that was traveling the wrong way after being struck by the first car, which was traveling southbound.

A passenger in the Nissan, identified as 23-year-old Amanda Taylor, died, Mayfield said. She said neither of the drivers involved were injured.
