Hammond said Lewis was standing around a barrel of fire with friends when the boy threw something into it.
“At first we thought it was a glass, but now we know it was a real pot with a barrel full of petrol. They say it just exploded and flew in her direction,” she said. said. “It was horrible. My whole body was completely burned.”
Lewis, a senior at Jacksboro High School, has since undergone at least four surgeries.

“This is the first year since I became a mother that I haven't wrapped a single Christmas present. I didn't wrap a single one,” Hammond said.
