Actress Lucy Hale celebrates big milestone in sobriety after ‘self-destructive’ battle with alcohol

Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale is proud of her sobriety journey.

Hale, 34, celebrated two years of sobriety after facing a difficult and “destructive” battle with alcohol.

“This remains the greatest gift I've given myself. I'm so grateful for another year of growth, growing pains, lessons, joy, and self-actualization,” she shared on Instagram .

“Being able to show who I am and have such a warm reception is something I don’t take for granted.”

Hale went on to talk about what he learned and his favorite moments along the way to sobriety.

“Interactions, conversations, and moments of vulnerability with people I know, people I used to know, people I hurt, people who have hurt me, strangers, and even people on the internet… It has given my life so much: color and meaning.”

She concluded her post by reaching out to those struggling with alcohol and telling her fans that “you don't have to walk this path alone.”

“There is no right or wrong way to heal. It is very personal and unique to each of us. My only advice is to have an open mind, be curious, and look at yourself. “It's about finding people who support you. It gets better, every moment.”

Hale accompanied her heartfelt post with a photo of a graph charting her progress. It was revealed that she had been sober for 2 years, 24 months, 731 days, and 17,523 hours.

In a series of inspirational photos, she further wrote, “For what it's worth…It's never too late to be who you want to be. For me, it's never too early. There's no time limit. .”

Her last photo showed her back to the camera, looking out at the green mountain trees and blue sky by the lake.

Earlier this year, Hale emotionally opened up about her alcoholism and how she has dealt with her inner demons in a revealing podcast interview.

Hale admitted that she started binge drinking at the age of 14, and said there were many moments when she felt she was at an “emotional rock bottom”.

“That's why it was so hard, dozens of times, because I thought, 'Oh my god, I thought I went to the depths of hell. … It couldn't possibly be any worse,'” she said of “The He said this while appearing on “Diary of a Diary.” CEO” podcast.

In a candid interview on the hour-and-a-half podcast, Hale admitted that he drinks until he can't remember anything.

“The coping mechanisms that I found to work for me were incredibly self-destructive and self-destructive,” she explained at the time.

“I have never publicly talked about my sobriety. … I have been sober for a little over a year,” Hale said.
