Raskin touts Biden’s Jan. 6 speech as ‘remarkable’ ahead of riot anniversary 

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) called President Biden's recent speech criticizing former President Trump “remarkable” in an interview Friday on MSNBC.

“Well, it was a great speech that spoke directly to the moment, and it was delivered with incredible passion and conviction and honesty,” Raskin said. Said. “And I think that was the kind of speech that inspired millions of people across the country to join this fight.”

In his first campaign speech of the year on Friday, the president sought to solidify his case that Trump and other Republicans espoused the type of extremism seen in the world that day, citing the Jan. 6 attack. emphasized.

“Democracy is on the ballot. Your freedom is on the ballot,” Biden said in a speech near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.

Biden also called the former president a “loser” during his speech.

“Donald Trump's campaign is fixated on the past, not the future. He is willing to sacrifice democracy to get him into power,” Biden added.

Mr Raskin argued that the upcoming election was not one where “people can sit on their couches and turn their backs and look at polling places and things like that”, but rather “an election where people need to be involved in the process”. .

“So instead of being in the prediction business, we should be in the mobilization business,” Raskin continued. “And that's what Joe Biden was saying. You know, everything is at stake here.”
