A Houston man locked a woman in his garage for nearly five years and drugged her so she couldn't escape, according to court documents recently obtained by local news outlets.

Lee Carter, 52, approached a pregnant woman begging in Almeda Genoa about five years ago and gave her $1, according to Harris County court documents obtained by FOX 26 Houston. He has been charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Carter offered to help the woman, who accepted and drove her to her home in the 5200 block of Perry Street in southeast Houston.

The indictment states the victim “begged to leave,” but Carter administered crack cocaine to her, making it “physically impossible” for her to flee the garage, FOX 26 reported.

The first complaint was filed in April 2023, and it appears the victim was able to contact police using Carter's computer.

Houston police responded to Carter's home on April 7 last year and made contact with the woman, who revealed that Carter had kidnapped her four to five years earlier and had kept her captive in his home and sexually assaulted her. He said he had been assaulted and given drugs.
