Protesters interrupted his remarks Monday at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. Protesters said if Mr. Biden was truly concerned about the loss of life, he would call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
“If we truly value the lives lost here, we should respect the lives lost and call for a ceasefire in Palestine,” a woman was heard shouting.
The group was quickly escorted away. Biden said he understands the enthusiasm of the demonstrators.
“I understand their passion and have been working secretly with the Israeli government to facilitate a withdrawal and deep withdrawal from the Gaza Strip,” Biden said.
He went on to say he was doing everything he could.
The crowd of Biden supporters chanted “four more years” as the protesters were escorted out.
This is not the first time pro-Palestinian protesters have disrupted a presidential event. From October 7thth Biden has been met with countless protests in the wake of Hamas's terrorist attacks that have infuriated Israel and killed more than 1,000 Israelis.
