MSNBC's Jonathan Capehart began sobbing Saturday as he began a Jan. 6 anniversary interview. And observers mercilessly mocked Caster's display of emotion.

Before interviewing former Washington, D.C., police officer Michael Fanone, Capehart's voice began to crack and break as he struggled to say, “I'm going to get through this.”
Mr. Capehart stopped and dabbed his nose with something that looked like a handkerchief or tissue.
“Thank you,” Capehart said to Fanone, his voice still shaking.
With that, the camera quickly moved away from Capehart and focused solely on Fanone. At this point, Capehart's sobs were on full display.
“For what you did for me three years ago today,” Capehart said with little emotion as he continued to thank Fanone.
Fanone initially had his eye on Capehart.
