Michigan’s Donovan Edwards starts National Championship with 2 touchdowns in 1st quarter

The Michigan Wolverines got off to a strong start in their national championship game against the Washington Huskies on Monday night, and that was largely thanks to running back Donovan Edwards.

Edwards scored two touchdowns on the first two drives of the Michigan game. The Wolverines ran a total of 12 plays on their first drive, which ended with the same result: an Edwards touchdown.

He started the game with a 41-yard touchdown run and then scored on a 46-yard touchdown run. He touched the ball only twice.

Michigan led 14-3 in the first quarter.

The University of Michigan was seeking its first national title since 1997.

Edwards, a junior, entered the game with 393 rushing yards and 249 receiving yards this season. He had three total touchdowns before scoring against Washington.

He called playing in the national championship a “dream come true.”

“All kids want to be at this stage and they want to be here. Whether everything has worked out for them or not, they need to sit down with themselves and accept where they are. Yes,” he told Sports Illustrated last week. .

“There are only two teams that still play in college football, so it’s a blessing to be one of the teams that still plays because when you’re a kid, you win high school rings, you win national championship rings.
