Billionaire Bill Ackman Backs Effort to Reform Harvard with ‘Young Blood’ Board Candidates

Bill Ackman, the billionaire hedge fund manager who participated in the successful call for the resignation of Harvard University President Claudine Gay, has joined the four-person board of supervisors at the university in an attempt to reshape the Ivy League school. is reportedly backing the proposal by its alumni.

The four candidates have not been nominated by the Harvard Alumni Association, so they must gather at least 3,300 signatures from Harvard alumni by the end of January to run in the spring election.

Ackman, who has donated about $50 million to Harvard, also accuses the university of mismanaging and wasting some of his donations. His hedge fund, Pershing Square Capital Management, manages $18 billion in assets and returned about 27% last year, he said.
