Ex-Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias won’t face felony charges

Prosecutors have declined to file felony charges against former Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias, according to multiple reports.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office plans to turn the case over to the City Attorney's Office for “review of misdemeanor allegations,” according to documents filed Tuesday. Viewed by Los Angeles Times.

The document also states that “neither the victim's injuries nor the defendant's criminal history warrant a felony charge.”

Urias was arrested on September 3 after an MLS match at BMO Stadium, where LAFC was hosting Inter Miami CF.

The office's charge evaluation worksheet states that on the night in question, Urias “pushed his wife against a fence and pulled her by her hair and shoulders,” the newspaper said.

After the incident, he was released on $50,000 bail.

Three days after his arrest, MLB placed Urias in administrative custody and ended the season.

The California Highway Patrol's Major Crimes Division investigated the incident and turned the case over to the Attorney General's Office on December 11th.

While Urias may have resolved some of his legal issues, MLB still has to investigate and could face its own disciplinary action if it is determined that he violated the league's domestic violence policy. There is a possibility that it will be lowered.

This is the second time in his eight seasons with the Dodgers that he has been involved in an incident, following a 2019 incident that resulted in a 20-game suspension under MLB's Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Child Abuse Policy. .

Urias was accused of pushing the woman, but no criminal charges were filed.

Urias is a free agent, but there are questions about whether he will find another team.

He was expected to sign a $200 million contract in free agency before the incident in September. According to ESPN.

Urias has pitched 117¹/₃ innings this season with a 4.60 ERA and has a career 3.11 ERA.
