Pregnant Texas mom killed, baby clinging to life after crash with officer

A pregnant woman was killed and her premature baby was left clinging to life after an off-duty Texas state trooper crashed her car Saturday morning.

The crash occurred on a Dallas freeway just after 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

A Chevrolet Malibu carrying Aquasia Kennedy, 19, who is seven months pregnant, and two other people stalled in the center lane just before being struck by a Jeep Wrangler.

Kennedy was taken to hospital in critical condition, but died before doctors could deliver her first child. The girl had already been named Skylin.

“Baby Skye survived, but is in critical condition, and while we continue to protect her, Aquasia passed away just before her daughter was born,” her grieving family said in a statement. I wrote it inside.

Kennedy, affectionately known as “Nusky” by her family, celebrated her 19th birthday on New Year's Day and had a gender reveal party a few months earlier.

At the time, the teenager wrote on Facebook about her excitement at becoming a first-time mother: “I couldn't be more satisfied with my life.”

According to his family, it was Kennedy's “mission to make others laugh and smile.”

“I remember when she was born and I signed the birth certificate. Now I can't wrap my head around the fact that today I'm really about to receive a death certificate with my daughter's name on it. I’m confused,” her father, Quincy Kennedy, wrote on Facebook, calling for “justice” for his daughter’s death. .
