Philadelphia Eagles fans will be watching their team in the playoffs this weekend, but the team's end to the regular season may have some fans worried heading into Monday night's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Hall of Famer and Eagles legend Brian Dawkins watched his former team drop from 10-1 to 11-6 to end the season.

He thinks Eagles fans are right to be concerned.

“If you're an Eagles fan, I think the majority, if not all of you, are probably in some kind of panic,” he said. fox news digital While discussing the benefits of Nirvana Super on your retirement fitness journey.

“But as a former player, there's no room to panic. If you panic, you're done. So, yeah, you're worried. To be honest, you've been worried for about five weeks.” Yourself . ”

The Eagles lost five of their final six games of the regular season, including back-to-back losses to the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants, both top-10 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Dawkins spoke to Fox News Digital before the shocking 27-10 loss to the Giants, who had the NFC East championship on the line. The Dallas Cowboys needed a loss to the Washington Commanders for the Eagles to win the division, but their two-game home field advantage in the playoffs was in jeopardy.

No team wants to lose when the playoffs begin, but Dawkins, who has 16 seasons of NFL experience (13 in Philadelphia), hopes the Eagles can rectify the situation.

“What I hope happens is that they finally have the honest conversation that they need to have,” he said.

What exactly is that conversation?

Dawkins acknowledged that the Eagles had a better effort despite the loss to the Seattle Seahawks. But he also said that against the Cardinals, he had “no idea what was going on on the field.”

The offense stalled in Week 18 against the Giants, but the defense allowed many big plays that led to New York's points.

“There's room for concern, there's definitely room for concern,” Dawkins said. “I'm just hoping they're doing what they're supposed to do from a mental standpoint. It's a mental thing, not a physical thing. So mentally, [they need to] They have the potential to fix their mental reserves and go out and play passionate ball and contribute towards a long run in the postseason. ”

Eagles fans may be keeping an eye on quarterback Jalen Hurts, who brings some light to the locker room.

“It's not just Jalen's job as a leader to lead this football team, and that's something I definitely want to make clear,” he explained. “Yes, he's a real, tremendous cog in that regard. But when we're in meetings, do you think there's someone I don't always talk about as a defensive player? The quarterback. . I don't know what they're talking about.'' When you're on the defensive side of the ball in a meeting.

“So if we don't have leadership in the room that we're in and we're relying on Jaylen's guidance on game day and in practice, no. That's not going to help us win. “I don't hear them in special teams meetings. They don't hear me. They don't hear the defensive leadership. They don't hear the offensive leadership and what's going on there. I won’t listen.”

“What I'm saying is this is not a one-person job. He's definitely come a long way in this field, but it's definitely not a one-person job.”

What Hurts can't do, in Dawkins' eyes, is turn the ball over.
