Steelers-Bills total dips with bad weather forecast for Wild Card

With inclement weather forecast in Buffalo, Sunday's Bills vs. Steelers total during Wild Card Weekend is plummeting.

Tuesday night at Caesars Sportsbook, the total was down to 36 from 43 earlier this week, an unusual drop in total touchdowns from the start.

Various forecasts predict sustained winds in the 20-30 mph range, with gusts in the 40-60 mph range.

If the harsher prediction comes true, it could wipe out a big game from either team's passing game.

And good luck kicking a long field goal.

But strong winds aren't the only factor that will surely thwart Sunday's attack.

Temperatures at game time are expected to be in the low 20s, and there is a “feel” that temperatures could drop below freezing. According to Covers.com analyst Jason Logan..

Meteorologists are also bracing for the possibility of a snowstorm, creating the perfect recipe for a low-scoring game.

This total is definitely the lowest of the wild-card weekend, with no other Caesars line scoring less than 43.5 points.

The weather may be bad, but bettors are also likely looking to weaken the Steelers' anemic offense.

Pittsburgh has scored 30 or more points in two of its last three games, but a broader look shows the team is struggling to score.

The Steelers have scored 18 points or less in six of their past eight games, ranking 28th in scoring (17.9 points per game).

According to Rotocurve, the Steelers trail by 10 points, giving them an implied total of just 13 points, one of the lowest in the NFL and the lowest of the season.

The Bills, on the other hand, boast one of the best offenses in the NFL.

Buffalo had the third-best offensive DVOA during the regular season, scoring 26.5 points per game (sixth in the NFL).

But as NFL history has shown time and time again, even the best offense can't overcome high winds and snowy weather.
