New England Patriots offensive lineman Trent Brown seemed unhappy for a good portion of the 2023 season as his team fell to the bottom of the NFL.
Before leaving the Patriots' facility during the season, Brown strongly pushed back against the negative press that swirled around him throughout the year. Brown took issue with the information being leaked by an “anonymous source” and denied that he had ever discussed his desire to join the NFC East team.

“This year has been a tough year,” he told NESN in an interview published Tuesday. “This year has been like no other in my NFL career in terms of the number of anonymous sources who have come forward to tell complete lies about my character.
“It was hard to even go into the building every day knowing that someone I probably see every day or put a smile on my face every day was running a smear campaign.”

Brown cited the Patriots' struggles, citing the departure of Ted Karras, the trade of Shaq Mason, and not doing anything to fill the position with the right talent. He added that he felt like the Patriots were messing with him this year.
“I’ve also heard from coaches about how they come to staff meetings and talk about how they can get along with me,” he said. “I think they're trying to get me out of character. It's really crazy to think that they're spending their time talking about it instead of trying to get better.”
