Republican lawmakers charged Hunter Biden with contempt of Congress during a hearing Wednesday for failing to comply with a Congressional subpoena.
In what appeared to be a public relations stunt, Hunter Biden appeared at the hearing along with his lawyer, Abby Lowell, and Kevin Morris, the so-called “sugar brother.”
Congressional leaders could have sent the House Sergeant at Arms to arrest and detain Hunter for failing to comply with the subpoena.
“You're the epitome of white privilege… you don't have the balls… I think Hunter Biden should be arrested here right now and go to jail,” said Rep. Nancy Mace (R-R.). South Carolina) Saidturning to the president's son:
“I believe Hunter Biden should be completely humiliated. I think he should be dragged to jail right now!”

A majority of Democratic voters say Hunter Biden should comply with the House impeachment inquiry's lawful subpoena and appear for both private and public depositions. If not, he should be prosecuted, the Harvard Capps/Harris poll found:
- All parties said Hunter Biden should submit to a private deposition.
- The majority says President Joe Biden's Justice Department should prosecute Hunter Biden for failing to appear in court.
House investigators announced they would investigate the Biden family in November 2022. It was later revealed that Joe Biden had been receiving money from James Biden and Hunter Biden. They also revealed that nine more members of the Biden family, including two of Joe Biden's grandchildren, received compensation from the family's overseas business operations.
