The Democratic congressman who serves in the House of Representatives was at the center of an apparent blunder Wednesday when he claimed former President Donald Trump “incited an erection.”
Rep. Pramila Jayapal's (D-Wash.) comments come as the House Judiciary Committee, if approved, will hold a full House vote on whether to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress for failing to comply with a Congressional subpoena. The decision was made while the draft resolution was being considered. As part of the House impeachment inquiry into President Biden.
“I think we're all outraged by a lot of things, but if you're talking about outrageous things that have happened and things that haven't happened yet, the fact that President Trump incited an erection. Let’s talk about it.”
Jayapal immediately realized what he had said, started laughing and said, “Maybe.”

“We can talk about that, too,” chimed in Rep. Dan Bishop, RN.C.
“Maybe we should talk about that,” Jayapal replied.
Jayapal corrected himself, recovered from the awkward situation, and said, “The president incited the riot.”
Jayapal is not the first Democrat to use the word “erection” rather than “insurrection” when discussing the events of January 6, 2021, and President Trump's actions that day.
In January 2021, while promoting President Trump's impeachment trial on the Senate floor, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (New York) claimed the former president had engaged in an “erection.”
“There will definitely be a trial, and once that trial is over, senators will have to decide whether they believe Donald John Trump incited an insurrection against the United States,” he said at the time. Schumer said.

Jayapal's colleague, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., was also found guilty of using the word “erection” to describe an incident more than three years ago.
Schiff's gaffe occurred during an appearance on The View in November 2021, during which he responded to pressure from the host who asked if he regretted talking about the discredited Steele dossier. It was something.
“But he used it as a smokescreen to invite Russia to cooperate in the election, which they did, to try to force Ukraine to cooperate in the next election, and that he instigated the erection. Let's stop using this as a smokescreen to somehow cover up Donald Trump's responsibility for this…”

Mr. Schiff quickly caught himself and used the word “insurrection” before continuing with his comment.
