Oregon's gun restrictions in Ballot Measure 114 (BM 114) were permanently blocked by a general judgment handed down on January 9, 2024 by Harney County Circuit Court Judge Robert Raschio.
Mr. Raschio initially blocked gun control measures days before they were to go into effect.
Breitbart News reported that Raschio filed a temporary restraining order against BM 114 on December 6, 2022, in a lawsuit filed by Gun Owners of America. BM 114 then spent several months in state and federal court, and on November 21, 2023, was once again blocked from access by Laschio by a permanent injunction.
The litigation continued, but ended on January 9, 2024, when Raschio secured a permanent injunction against BM 114. On December 14, 2022, Breitbart News reported that Oregon State Police are concerned that if the BM 114 is allowed into force, it will be limited to a 10-round magazine. Police were also concerned that BM 114 would force them to obtain permits to carry firearms off-duty.
