Hot mic catches Chris Christie giving his uncensored view of Nikki Haley’s campaign — and Ron DeSantis agrees

Chris Christie was caught on a hot mic predicting that Nikki Haley would “smoke” in the Republican presidential primary.

Just before Mr. Christie took to the stage in New Hampshire to announce the end of his campaign, a livestream of the event showed him speaking with people offstage about the state of the Republican election.

“So she's spent $68 million so far, just on TV. She's spent $68 million so far, DeSantis has spent $59 million. And we've spent $12.” said Christy. “I mean, who's punching above their weight and who's getting a return on their investment? And she's going to get smoked. And you and I both know that. She's not going to do this. I can't stand it.”

source of information This was confirmed by a person who spoke to NBC News. Another thing Christie said in the clip was that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called Christie earlier in the day after hearing rumors that Christie was planning to cancel his campaign. That's what it was.

The source said Mr. DeSantis told Mr. Christie that he was “grateful” for his role in the campaign, even though it ended prematurely.

Significantly, the source also said that Christie attacked Haley on that phone call. The former New Jersey governor reportedly called Haley a “joke” and said she was not up to the task of winning the Republican presidential nomination, let alone the presidency.

DeSantis, on the other hand, agreed with Christie's assessment that Haley “is going to smoke.”

According to Politico, relations between Christie and DeSantis have begun to bloom in recent weeks over shared concerns that Haley is not a qualified candidate.

politiko report:

Mr. DeSantis and Ms. Christie have spoken privately by phone in recent weeks, discussing their mutual belief that Ms. Haley is an unsuitable candidate. After Haley stumbled on a question about the origins of the Civil War, Christie reached out to DeSantis to talk about it. The two also discussed their shared view that Haley has not given a direct answer on whether she would be open to being chosen as President Trump's running mate.

if the polls are right, Haley does indeed end up being “smoked.” But it's ironic that Mr. Christie (whose campaign never reached the first caucus or primary) made that prediction.
