It looks like Marcus Stroman is heading back to the Big Apple.

Stroman was traded to the New York Mets in 2019 and played there until 2021, but there were reports that Stroman was furious over the fact that he was traded to Queens instead of the Bronx Bombers.

Well, he finally got his wish.

Stroman has reportedly agreed to a contract with the New York Yankees.

According to a report from SNY, 2-year, $37 million agreement With a third year vesting option.

The two sides have begun to make progress toward an agreement in recent days, with Stroman himself posting a Photoshopped photo of himself wearing a Yankees jersey on his Instagram Story, identifying himself as a Yankee. I almost admitted it.

Ironically, Stroman has been highly critical of the Yankees and general manager Brian Cashman in the past, perhaps because in 2019 Cashman said Stroman was not an impact pitcher for the Yankees during that season. It may have come from the bitterness he felt when he said that it would not have happened.

However, both sides appear to have put their differences aside.

Stroman spent the past two seasons with the Chicago Cubs. He was named an All-Star last summer for the second time in his career.

Stroman was one of the best pitchers in the first half of last year, posting a 2.28 ERA in his first 16 starts. However, he allowed 35 earned runs in just 38.0 innings over his final 11 innings, good for an 8.29 ERA. This increase caused his season ERA to skyrocket to 3.95, the third-worst of his career.

The Yanks' starting rotation, once hailed as one of the best players in the game, had question marks heading into the offseason, including last season's AL Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole.

New York signed Carlos Rodon, the best pitcher on the market, to a $162 million contract last year. However, due to injuries, he started only 14 games and posted a 6.85 ERA, which was a huge disappointment. Additionally, it remains to be seen what will happen to the staff, as Nestor Cortez was injured last year and depth appears to be lacking after acquiring Juan Soto as a pitching prospect.

The Yanks were eager to sign Yoshinobu Yamamoto, offering him a $300 million contract, but Yamamoto agreed to an even bigger deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers last month, which dealt a major blow to the Yanks' plans.

Although he is in great shape, the rotation may be a force to be reckoned with.

Stroman has a career ERA of 3.65 in a career that began with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2014. He doesn't have an overwhelming ball, but he does have a repertoire of weak contact and lots of ground balls, making him a perfect fit for Yankee Stadium.
