A Serbian man executed in front of his family in Brazil last week has been identified as a hitman wanted by Interpol for multiple contract murders.
“The investigation revealed that he was secretly living here under a fake Slovenian name,” lead investigator Luis Ricardo Lara Díaz Jr. told reporters on Friday.
Diaz Jr. said Interpol had been searching for the man for nearly 10 years and police believe his killing may be related to his criminal past.
Local police this week identified the victim as Darko Geisler, 43, after consulting with the Slovenian Consulate General in São Paulo based on a passport found on the victim, but the passport was not his and was lost. It turned out that it belonged to a Slovenian. It was 2017.
Jam Press reported that after conducting an online reverse search for Geisler's photo, police identified him as a Serbian hitman wanted in Montenegro for multiple murders and possession of weapons and explosives. Montenegrin authorities admitted that Geisler was a contract killer.
