The Bills-Steelers wild-card game will not be postponed again.
Gov. Cathy Hochul announced Sunday that the NFL playoffs will be played at Orchard Park after a snowstorm hit the Buffalo area on Saturday, causing the game to be postponed one day from its originally scheduled kickoff time of 1 p.m. Sunday. It was announced that the game would be held as scheduled on Monday at 4 p.m.30:30pm
“The game will not be pushed back again. I have spoken to the NFL commissioner. [Roger Goodell] Several times today.I talked to the owner of the Buffalo Bills. [Terry Pegula] About their preparation. There are also volunteers who walk to the stadium and help clean it up,” Hochul said.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz also said Sunday that he encouraged fans to carpool because parking lots might not be cleared of all the snow by Monday.
The Steelers landed safely in Buffalo on Sunday. According to CBS Sports.
The Bills Mafia was looking forward to this home playoff game after the Bills (11-6) finished the regular season with five straight wins, won the AFC East and secured the No. 2 seed in the conference.
The team was offering people $20 an hour to help shovel snow before the game, but early Sunday the Bills urged fans to abide by the travel ban still in place due to the weather, saying some Cleaning has been postponed.
Hochul said crews arrived at Highmark Stadium to begin clearing snow Sunday afternoon, although a travel ban remained in place at Orchard Park.
Snow shoveling was originally scheduled to begin Saturday night, but was postponed as at least a foot and up to three feet of snow was expected to fall in the Buffalo area.
The Bills have not been able to overcome their struggles in recent years, but are hoping to make a breakthrough this postseason.
Buffalo lost to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game three years ago and lost in overtime to Kansas City in the divisional round two years ago. Both games were played in Kansas City.
The Bills then lost to the Bengals in last year's divisional round.
If the Bills defeat the Steelers, they will have a final home game against the Chiefs in the playoffs next weekend.
