A group of young climate change extremists made a futile attempt Sunday to disrupt former President Donald Trump's rally in Indianola, Iowa, ahead of the state caucuses. daily mail report.
Trump's rally was held over the weekend inside the Simpson University Campus Center. There is no official count of attendance, but an estimated 500 or more Iowa voters braved frigid temperatures to hear Trump speak.
The event was briefly interrupted when several activists held signs that read “Trump: Climate Change Criminal” and began shouting at the former president.
Videos posted on social media showed Trump supporters drowning out the activists' abuse. Before climate change extremists were dragged from the event, President Trump appeared unfazed by the interruption, telling the activists to “go home to your mommy” and “grow up.”
“Thank you, darling, thank you. That's enough,” Trump told the protesters. “Go home to mommy, she's waiting for you.”
“So young. So young,” he continued. “You know, it's amazing because it used to happen all the time. And I don't think it's happened in the last two-and-a-half or three years.”
Trump said the protesters were “very young and immature,” but that interruptions “always heighten excitement.”
“They're going to grow up and use common sense to understand that what we're doing is very important,” Trump said.
Climate change extremists were dragged out of the event as President Trump's supporters chanted “America!”
Journalist Laura Loomer shared a video of the event on X, writing, “Climate change extremists just tried to disrupt President Trump's rally in Indianola, Iowa, but they were drowned out by MAGA. Trump. Undaunted, the president joked, “They're so young and they're fighting oil.'' The room laughed out loud. ”
Sunrise Movement is the group responsible for organizing the disruption to Trump's rally. Posted On social media: “We just interrupted Trump's rally to call him out for who he really is: Oil and gas, a climate change criminal, funding his campaign more than the future of our generation. I'm concerned about billionaires.”
The group also disrupted rallies held by several other Republican candidates, including Vivek Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis, and Nikki Haley.
“For the past week, we've been asking Nikki Haley, 'How can you extort money from oil and gas billionaires and still claim to support our generation?'” Sunrise Movement said. “She's trying hard to avoid that question. This morning she literally ran away from us. Last night her staff kicked all the young people out of the event.”
