Stafford was prepared to hear some well-deserved boos when he returned to Detroit on Sunday for the Rams wild-card game against the Lions.
But they never expected their children to be booed.
Kelly Stafford, wife of current Rams QB and former Lions QB Matthew Stafford, said she was prepared for some good teasing from fans in the city where she and her husband started their NFL careers. But she wasn't happy about being booed by her children. She said it happened during a game in which the Rams lost 24-23 to the Lions.
Bird boos didn't put Kelly Stafford in a bad mood. Still, she wished the Lions every success in the future.
“The more you love, the more you hate. I think it all goes both ways,” she said.
“I hope the Lions bring Lombardi back to that city, because that feeling is like no other.”
With this win, the Lions ended a 32-year playoff championship drought. The Miami Dolphins currently hold the dubious record of being the longest without a playoff win.
