Rybakina defeated Pliskova 2-2, with Evans leading Sonego with a break. As for him, I understand that he thinks he can win, but when he was in perfect condition, he had 0 wins and 2 losses against Sonega, so he is not in perfect condition. He wasn't injured, but in Adelaide last week he was gassed after about 45 minutes in both games. He was able to get past the first round because his opponent hit three doubles at 5-5 in the second round. He twisted his calf at last year's final event so there was no pre-season and the only time he returned to play was at Christmas, but he can't recreate match fitness. But so far, he's been playing well, so he was right.

The reason why Zverev was turned off was because of a young and gorgeous Chinese man named Jerry Xiang. He was named one of the Super Soarway Guardian Players to Watch and served for four in the 5th inning against Mackenzie MacDonald, 5-2.
Now! Pliskova defeated Rybakina in the first round, which should give a bit of confidence to a fighter known for her fragility. It's still difficult to see how she'll win here, but she'll hopefully make it happen.
In court, Zverev and Koepfer are absent. I'm also watching the game, so if anyone has extra eyes, I'd be happy to lend them to them.
