A heartwarming video captured the moment a Utah firefighter bravely jumped into a partially frozen pond to rescue a dog, but the dog seemed reluctant to accept help.
The North Davis Fire Department announced Sunday that the black pup was trapped after being submerged in the frigid waters of Steed Pond in Clearfield, a suburb of Salt Lake City.
“Bob, be kind, we'll help you!” the dog's family called soothingly to their beloved pet, clutching thin ice cubes that were too delicate to support his weight. video show.
Logan, a firefighter, wore protective gear from head to toe and a rope tied around his waist as he slowly but determinedly crawled across the ice toward the vulnerable dog.
Bob growled and howled at his bewildered rescuers, despite his family's pleas to be nice.
“Don't worry, buddy, he'll save you!” they called.
Undaunted, Logan swung his legs forward and dove into the freezing water. The region experienced rainy weather throughout the weekend with temperatures of 32 degrees.
Apparently more scared of the bright yellow man than the cold water, Bob held on to the ice shelf, but eventually swam towards Logan, who quickly grabbed the pup.
The two grapple briefly in the water as Bob tries to bite his rescuer in the face, but Logan proves to be the stronger of the two.
“Start pulling!” the firefighter yelled to his crew.

Firefighters began pulling ropes from the safety of the shore and pulled the two men out of the water.
As soon as Bob set his feet firmly on the solid ice, he sprinted away from Logan towards his family, but not before he could shake off the frozen water that had stuck to his coat.
“Bob the dog loves water, but after going into polar territory, he was unable to go outside due to the ice shelf,” the North Davis Fire District said on Facebook.
“Ice conditions are still not as safe as we would like, so please stay safe with your pets and children.”
