Former President Donald Trump (R-Texas) won an endorsement from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Tuesday. fox news digital report.
Mr. Cruz announced his support for Mr. Trump following Mr. Trump's “overwhelming victory” in the Iowa caucuses earlier this week. The Republican senator told Fox News' Sean Hannity that the caucus results were “conclusive.”
“It was a landslide victory for Donald Trump. I have to say there is no place like the Iowa caucuses. I know that very well. The men and women of Iowa believe in their responsibility. “They're taking it as seriously as they can. They're vetting candidates. It's amazing. I'm a big believer in making democracy work,” Trump said at the 2016 Iowa caucuses. said Mr. Cruz.
“Well, last night went well,” he continued. “Trump's victory was across the board. Trump received 51% of the vote. He won 98 counties.”
Cruz on Monday night congratulated Trump on his landslide victory in Iowa. The former president defeated Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) by 30 points, and DeSantis defeated former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley in second place.
“At this point, I believe this campaign is over. That's why I'm proud to support Donald Trump for president of the United States. I believe it's time for the Republican Party to come together, and I'm enthusiastically supporting him,” Cruz said. I look forward to doing so,” he added.
He said Republicans need to come together to defeat the “disastrous cultural Marxist policies” of President Joe Biden (D) and his party. Cruz said he doesn't see a path to victory for other Republican candidates.
“Following last night's results, the nation made its voice heard. It's time to move forward to victory in November,” Cruz said. He predicted Trump would win another decisive victory in South Carolina.
Cruz, who is seeking re-election, said he is one of Democrats' top targets.
“I wear it as a badge of honor,” he commented.
“If you're a left-wing Democrat, after Donald Trump, there's no one in this country you'd want to defeat more than me. And Chuck Schumer, I'm his No. 1 target in this country. ,” Cruz added. “Democrats are going to spend $100 million this year trying to defeat me and overturn Texas Blue. That's not going to happen now.”
