Former Republican presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said he would give Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis an “immeasurable credit” if he withdraws from the Republican presidential race before the New Hampshire primary.
Ramaswamy withdrew from the primary race shortly after finishing fourth in the Iowa caucuses earlier this week and quickly joined the campaign in support of former President Trump.
“If @RonDeSantis does the right thing and drops out before the NH primary, I give him a lot of credit,” Ramaswamy Posted Wednesday on Platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Most of his votes will go to Mr. Trump, and we will be able to get this primary over with and make sure the election is over.” [Nikki Haley] And her neocon ilk never come close to the White House. That's the main reason I left. ”
Mr. Ramaswamy announced Monday night that he was withdrawing from the Republican race, endorsing Mr. Trump, who had warned voters not to support Mr. Ramaswamy because of his dislike of the Iowa caucuses.
“At this time, we are suspending this presidential campaign,” Ramaswamy said on Monday.
“As I've said from the beginning, we have two America First candidates in this election. And earlier tonight, I called Donald Trump to congratulate him on his victory. I will now have full support for the presidency,” Ramaswamy said later.
The Hill/Decision Desk polling average for the New Hampshire Republican primary shows Haley trailing Trump by about nine points, at 34% compared to the former president's 43.1%. Mr. DeSantis currently has an average polling rating of 5.6%.
In Monday's Iowa caucuses, Ramaswamy received only 7.7% of the vote, behind Haley's 19.1% and DeSantis' 21.2%. Trump overwhelmingly won 51% of the vote.
The New Hampshire primary, the next stage in the race for the Republican nomination, is scheduled for next Tuesday.
