Democrats’ top political hitmen move to suppress third party challenge to Biden

The Democratic Party's main opposition research group has set its sights on curbing third-party challenges to the president, which it fears could derail President Biden's re-election efforts.

According to Reuters, the group American Bridge recently hired veteran Democratic operative and lawyer Marc Elias to try to thwart the success of such challengers. The move comes as the group No Labels is pushing for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s independent candidacy.

So far, American Bridge's efforts have taken the form of legal challenges over technical issues in the vast bureaucratic network required to run for national office.

“We are monitoring to see if they are dotting all the 'i's' and crossing the 't's,” and we do not intend to preclude legal action with attorneys if we identify issues. . This also applies to all threats made by third parties. President Biden,” American Bridge President Pat Dennis told Reuters.

No Labels' founder, former Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, has repeatedly refuted claims that the group operates as a spoiler. A December Reuters poll found that six in 10 Americans want a third option beyond Republicans and Democrats.
