On Thursday's broadcast of NewsNation's “The Hill,” Rep. Lou Correa (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said that while there are issues at the border and fentanyl, “Alejandro Mayorkas is not the cause. “We are taking measures,” he said. There has never been a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, and cyberattacks against the United States have been “essentially minimal.”
“Look at what's going on in the world right now,” Correa said. “There are two wars going on. We have fentanyl. [on] Our doorsteps can be found on Main Streets across the country. We have challenges like fentanyl, sad and tragic deaths, and grieving parents. And, of course, we have the global refugee problem. So naturally you want to know why this is happening. But Alejandro Mayorkas is not the reason. Alejandro is doing his job. If you think about the two world wars going on in the Middle East and Europe…what you don't talk about is the fact that, thankfully, there has never been a terrorist attack on our soil. We have basically minimized all kinds of attacks, including cyberattacks, on our society. In other words, Mayorkas is doing a good job. But we still have a lot of work to do in this country. And instead of spending time in these hearings trying to impeach this guy, in my opinion, he hasn't committed any crimes. Let's focus on working together. Senate Republicans, Senate Democrats, the president, we're all working together. I ask Republicans in Congress to work with us to come up with a solution. ”
He added that there are immigration issues around the world and Border Patrol needs more resources.
