Donald Trump Jr. said his father's choice for president, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, is “definitely going to be the candidate.”
“That's obviously going to be on the table,” Don Jr. said. Asked on Newsmax If the former president was “seriously considering Tucker Carlson” as his running mate should he win the 2024 election, it would be Thursday.
“I mean, they're very friendly. I think they agree on virtually all of these things,” Don Jr. told Rob Finnerty on “Wake Up America.”
“They do agree on stopping endless wars. So I'd love to see that happen. That would certainly be a contender.”
The former president himself previously said he would consider Carlson for the job.
“I love Tucker. I think so,” President Trump said in an interview on “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” in November. “I think he would do that because he's a very common sense guy.”
During a Fox News town hall last week, the 77-year-old president hinted that he had already made up his mind about his running mate, saying, “I know who it's going to be.”
Carlson has downplayed the idea of running for public office, calling it “a little hard to imagine.”
Carlson, 54, hosted Fox News' prime-time show for six years before being fired in April without explanation.
The popular host's sudden departure comes days after the station agreed to pay $787 million to settle a defamation lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems over the spread of lies about the 2020 presidential election. That was it.

Carlson has since launched his own streaming service, the Tucker Carlson Network, and also hosts a news show on X.
Don Jr. has also floated Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), and former Trump administration housing secretary Ben Carson as potential running mates.
“We need people who are cooperative and aggressive. We actually need fighters,” he said. “Republicans in Washington, D.C., are weak. Even with a House and a Senate, they will flip.”
One person who said he didn't want to see Don Jr. run for the White House with his father was former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who said he was “funded by the Democratic Party.” insisted.
“I'm going to do everything I can to make sure it's not Nikki Haley!” he said. “That's my opinion and I don't make the decision.”
