MSNBC host Joy Reid announced Friday that Daughters of the Confederacy is Moms for Women after interviewing the group's co-founder Tiffany Justice on her show “The Readout.” He said it was an older version of Liberty.
Reed discussed Republican presidential candidate and former Gov. Nikki Haley's (R-South Carolina) comments about slavery and racism, saying, “America was born as a slave republic and therefore a racist country.'' I understood that,” he said. ”
Network host Ali Belushi said: Germany did this after the Holocaust. They had calculated exactly what happened. I think what has gone astray in our history is that it really wasn't. At the end of the civil war, we said, in a sense, it's okay to be lost and be content. We had never done such calculations. Black people left the South in great migrations because of economic opportunity, but the truth was that flags were lowered and statues were never raised. That's over now. It didn't work. ”
