A Google software engineer suspected of killing his wife in a gruesome attack in their California home was found “covered in blood”, police said.

Google confirmed to Fox News Digital that Chen and his wife, Xuanyi Yu, were employees of the tech giant at the time of the incident.
An acquaintance called 911 on Jan. 16 after Chen “expressed concerns” about the couple, officials said.

The acquaintance told authorities that he saw Chen “with his hands up” and “knelt motionless” staring out the window.
Authorities said Chen “refused” to answer the phone or answer the door when police arrived.
After police entered the couple's home, Cheng was at the murder scene, not far from his wife's body, with his right hand “severely swollen and purple.”
Authorities said Yu suffered “severe blunt force trauma to the head.”

Police said the 27-year-old man had “stains of blood on his clothes, legs, arms and hands and scratches on his arms” following the brutal attack.
Prosecutors said Chen has been charged with murder and could go to prison if convicted.

The 27-year-old's arraignment was postponed until January 22 as Chen remains hospitalized. Court records stated:.
“While the number of domestic violence deaths has decreased in our county, that alone does not measure the depth and destructiveness of the violence,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a press release. “If you believe you or someone else is being abused by your partner, please contact your local law enforcement agency. You are not alone and we are here to help.”
