MANCHESTER, N.H. — Who is DeSantis?
Former President Donald Trump has scaled back his attacks on his top 2024 rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, and is instead focusing full force on Nikki Haley.
“You noticed I haven't said Ron DeSanctimonius' name yet,” Trump said 15 minutes into his speech.
“I think he's gone.”
With New Hampshire polls stuck in the single digits, DeSantis is hoping to regain ground in Haley's home state of South Carolina, and on Saturday he completely disappeared from the Granite State while campaigning in the South. It was erased.
The Florida governor is scheduled to return to New Hampshire to hold an event Sunday night before storming the state Monday ahead of the Jan. 23 primary.
Mr. Trump also tore into Ms. Haley's claims. Delayed support in South Carolinaby bringing out on stage an elected official from the first reserve state in the South, where she was governor.
“To the people of New Hampshire: All you need to know about Nikki Haley is that globalists, liberals, Biden supporters, and Never Trumpers are all on her side—and her home state of South Carolina. “Almost every state leader is on our side,” Trump added.
On Saturday night, before a rally in Manchester, the Trump campaign handed reporters a reference list of their attacks on Haley, including her tax, immigration and Democratic donor records.
At a Concord campaign event on Friday, he slammed Haley's record while serving as U.N. ambassador under Haley's administration.
“She's not that tough. She's not smart enough and she's not respected enough,” Trump argued.
Haley is President Trump's leading challenger in New Hampshire, with some polls putting the 77-year-old ahead of her by just 7 points.
Trump won the Iowa caucuses by a 30-point margin, but he urged voters to go to the polls on Tuesday in the nation's first primary, saying “differences matter.”
Crucially, the Trump campaign is asking volunteers to call banks in New Hampshire to give voters in New Hampshire perks like personally autographed Trump hats, VIP tickets to rallies, and photos with the former president. I encourage it.
“We have reached out to hundreds of thousands of voters across the state. We have the strongest volunteer force in the field of every operation. We have 270 Town Captains. All 10 counties in the state. We have county leaders in , and we have the support of 67 legislatures,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt told the Post Saturday morning at Trump's New Hampshire headquarters.
“We have great confidence in the Trump team's efforts to get President Trump across the finish line on Tuesday,” she added.
For the Trump campaign, the goal on Jan. 23 is to build on the “momentum” it has gained in Iowa, Trump's top surrogate, upstate Rep. Elise Stefanik, said Saturday.
At Saturday's rally, Trump urged voters to ignore the polls and go to the polls because “we need a big, big victory against these horrible people.”
“We have to win by a big margin because we have to send a signal going into November that we are coming,” he added.
